Setup: the Chrome extension

JOEY Virtual Machine (VPS) is the mode of operation the settings screen selects by default today; the extension is a second way in for a rep who would rather work inside the CRM tab they already have open. See the mode-of-operation note on How JOEY works before choosing. What follows is the install and connect flow for the extension itself, which is a real, downloadable build today.
What you need
- Google Chrome, or another Chromium-based browser that supports Chrome extensions.
- A DriveCentric account you are already signed into in that browser.
- A JOEY account. Sign up first if you have not already.
Installing it
- Download the extension. Grab the latest build (version 0.7.2) from your dashboard or
from /help/extension. It downloads as a .zip file.
- Unzip it. Double-click the
.zipto expand it into a folder namedjoey-extension.
Keep that folder somewhere you will not delete it; Chrome loads the extension from this folder.
- Open Chrome extensions. Go to
chrome://extensionsin Chrome. Turn on Developer mode
with the toggle in the top right.
- Load it. Click "Load unpacked," then select the
joey-extensionfolder. JOEY appears in
your extensions list. Click the puzzle-piece icon and pin JOEY so it is one click away.
Connecting your device
- One click, on this browser. From your JOEY dashboard, open Settings, then JOEY Extension,
and click "Connect this browser automatically." No code to copy or paste.
- Connecting a second browser. Generate a one-time code from the same Settings section, then
enter it in the extension on the other browser. The code expires in 15 minutes and works once.
- One device at a time. JOEY runs on one browser at a time. Connecting a new browser signs
JOEY out of any other browser it was previously running on.
Day to day use
- JOEY runs while Chrome is open. Closing Chrome, or the browser going to sleep, pauses JOEY
until you reopen it.
- Runs automatically, you pick the mode. JOEY prepares a draft, a call script, a text or
an email. In draft-only mode you send it yourself; in auto-send with review JOEY sends it during your scheduled hours while you watch. Both modes are human-supervised, because the terms require you to keep eyes on the screen while JOEY is on.
- Pause or stop any time. The Active/Paused switch on your dashboard pauses JOEY instantly.
- Coworker notes and suppression are automatic. If a coworker's note takes over a
conversation, or a customer has opted out, JOEY skips that conversation on its own.
What the status means

| Installed, not connected (amber) | Installed but not enrolled yet. Connect this browser in Settings. |
| Not installed (gray) | The extension is not detected on this device at all. |
Troubleshooting
- Use the Retry button on the Extension card if the status looks stale, or you just finished
installing.
- Switching machines: generate a fresh one-time code from Settings for the new browser.
- The version number shown next to Connected is the build on this device. Reload from
chrome://extensions if it does not match the latest release.
- If it shows disconnected: confirm Developer mode is on and JOEY is enabled (not greyed out)
at chrome://extensions, then click Retry.
Your privacy
The extension does not need or store your DriveCentric password; it works inside the browser session you are already signed into. One-time connection codes expire in 15 minutes and can only be used once. The extension talks only to JOEY, never sends analytics anywhere else, and never changes anything else on the page.
